Fundraising Ball 31 May 2014 at The Marriott Hotel, Leeds
Beyond Cancer would like to thank everyone who supported our Annual Charity Fundraising Ball which took place on 31 May 2014 at Leeds Marriott Hotel. The event was attended by 260 people and was an amazing success, raising £6,100.00
From the proceeds, £2,500 has now been presented to The Yorkshire Cancer Centre, where it was greatly welcomed and will be used to purchase 3 rise-recliner chairs for the Oncology Day Unit from their Wish List. These comfortable chairs are continually in use for patients receiving chemotherapy in the Unit.
The remaining funds will be used to continue the work of Beyond Cancer in particular the Special Wishes Programme and the newly developed Hardship Fund, for those who may require some additional financial support whilst receiving treatment.
Guest Speaker Sheila O’Shea, Appeal Director, Yorkshire Cancer Centre is responsible for driving the The Yorkshire Cancer Centre Appeal following transfer of services to St James’ Hospital in 2008. She gave an insighful talk about the work of the Centre.

The ‘Beyond Cancer Listening Ear and Hands that Hold Award’ has been renamed in memory of Carol Thomas, a loving wife and mother who at the age of only 47, lost her fight against breast cancer in 2013. The "Carol Thomas Listening Ear and Hands that Hold Award" was awarded to Marian Campbell in recognition of the support she has given to others with a cancer diagnosis, whilst coping with her own personal journey.
I am so honoured to receive this award. I was overwhelmed with emotion. Thanks to Beyond Cancer.
Congratulations to my My Mum For receiving The "Carol Thomas Listening Ear & Hands That Hold Award" from Beyond Cancer Charity. My Mum Is Courageous, Strong & an inspiration to myself and others. She does not let cancer define her. She lives life to the full.
