ABOUT US

MISSION AND HISTORY

The Beyond Cancer Charity was established by a group of mainly African/Caribbean women three of whom were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010.  The Charity is diverse and through members of its board and volunteers it provides support and a listening ear to anyone in Leeds during their stages of a cancer diagnosis, appointments and treatment.

Using our own experiences, awareness and funding raising events are regularly held to both encourage others and further develop the work of the charity.

THE CHARITY'S OBJECTIVES

  • The relief of sickness and the promotion of good health through the provision of support to people, predominantly from ethnic minority groups who have a cancer diagnosis, in particular those who have a breast cancer diagnosis living within the Leeds Metropolitan area and supporting the work of other charities working with people with cancer diagnosis.

  • The advancement of education of the public by raising awareness particularly amongst health care professionals of the support and needs of people from ethnic minority groups who have a cancer diagnosis.
